Traditional Thai Massage
Steeped in centuries of tradition, Traditional Thai massage (Nuad Thai or Nuad Boran) is an incredibly versatile and adaptable form of bodywork full of many techniques, deep and subtle, that allow each session to be personalized to any and every body. Because of this versatility, Thai massage is good for pretty much anything that ails you! Sometimes Thai massage has a reputation of being painfully intense, but it is not so with a skilled practitioner. Thai massage is done on a comfortable mat on the floor with the receiver wearing comfortable and stretchy clothing. Thai massage therapies don’t need to use oils, but specific treatments may call for healing balms, liniments, salves and steamed Thai herbal compresses. The Thai massage practitioner uses thumbs and fingers, hands, knees, elbows and feet to release muscle tension and create space in your body for ease and freedom of movement. Using breath awareness along with compression, rocking, stretching, and joint mobilization, Thai massage is a mind/body healing experience, balancing energy and awakening harmony in all levels of your being. Benefits may include injury recovery, pain management, ease of movement, an increase in range of motion, increased feelings of well being and feeling grounded, the ability to breathe more freely, better sleep, increased energy, grief support and recovery, better digestion, and more!
Thai Abdominal Massage
Many healing practices all over the world acknowledge the abdomen as the energy center of our health and well being. In Thai massage theory the abdomen is the energetic center of our bodies, where all energy comes in to and is released from the body. Stress, poor posture and injuries cause tension and emotions to accumulate in the abdomen leading to a variety of physical and emotional problems. Supported by the balance and healing of Thai herbal compresses, we work with your breath and use deep, gentle and intuitive touch to help you release tensions and held patterns in your abdomen to restore healthy balance to your entire body. Some of the benefits may include: better digestion, decreased indigestion and bloating, increased energy, improved immune function, improved posture, the ability to breathe more freely, release of old emotions and a feeling of well being. Some people report feeling and standing taller and seeing more clearly after a session. This incredible bodywork brings deep healing.
